Call for nurses to be paid annual cash bonuses for high levels of care in a bid to raise NHS hospital standards

NURSES should be paid bonuses to reward better care of patients in a bid to lift hospital standards, an influential think tank today claims.

Only some senior doctors get annual cash handouts for their performances at the moment. But in a major report to mark the NHS’s 70th birthday this Thursday, the Centre for Policy Studies calls for them to be shared out among all staff.
